White Sand Beaches in Thailand
Travelers flock to Thailand for its beaches, more than 2000 kms of coastline and 8,000 islands with a number with luxurious white sand, captivating warm water and beautiful surroundings. Many islands appear to have beaches that have topped the top 25 like Koh Samui and Koh Phangan and other places don't. It's just a matter of taste, so I went for those which I really like.
01. Nai Harn Beach, Phuket
Nai Harn Beach has some crowded areas but it remains a popular beach in Thailand. The beaches in Phuket boast crystal clear waters, white sand and waves that aren't too heavy to be used when navigating. Its climate and weather conditions make it ideal for visits during summer.
Nearby restaurants and local food producers allow for easy access to the beach. A number of hotels such as Navatara Phuket Resort, the Nai Harn and Sunsuri Phuket are easily accessible by foot from beaches. See other beach destinations in Phuket.
02. Ton Sai Beach, Krabi
Ton Sai Beach in Krabis offers some interesting experiences for those on low budget, a beautiful Sand Strand, with cheap accommodation with excellent climbing. Then you can relax in a peaceful atmosphere. No crowds.
There are two ways to get to this beach, the first and easiest way is to get a lift in a long tail boat that will take about five minutes from Railay Beach, the second and more complicated way is a trek through the rainforest for an hour and a half from Avay Since going to the beach doesn't always happen easy there has been little traffic.
03. Phra Nang Cave Beach, Krabi Province
For an amazing beach in Krabi Province in south Thailand, Pha Nang Cave beach is the ideal choice for adventure and scenery for outdoor adventures. The shallow waters on this beach are known for their rock climbing outcrops.
Occasionally it's overcrowded, but it's a unique beach for Thailand. For private beaches you can stay in a resort such as Rayavades Resort. It excludes visitors to its surrounding Forest. It also has a low profile pool and beach area.
04. Railay Beach – Krabi
Railay has become the most popular destination for visitors on the beaches of the country. It's where the climb began in 2000. The limestone rock formations attracted us here, but the sandy beach kept them going.
Railays enchanting sand is lined with gigantic seaside rocks and is breathtaking. Railay beach is surrounded by a small island. We took a boat out of Krabi Town but it's possible to go short distances from Ao Nang. Mostly people stay at Ao Nang and go sightseeing on Railay Beach.
05. Maya Bay Koh Phi Phi Leh – Krabi
Make an excursion to Koh Phil Leh where you can explore the national park and the stunning Maya Beach. Our trip to Maya was a good one, even though it was closed for tourists and it opened again in 2022.
It is considered a beautiful beach in Thailand with white-white beaches and crystal-clear water. It isn't a wonder that Leonardo DiCaprio's beach movie is shot here. Maya Bay lies in National Park and has limited tourist and national park entry fees. It can be booked via Get Your Guide To Maya's attractions.
It is probably the first beach in the country to catch international attention. It is logical. The view from this beautiful beach, in the turquoise waters, was amazing. My memory of that pristine white Sand was sand lined with horseshoe bay. Its an expensive beach retreat but the beauty is amazing.
06. Laem Thong Beach – Krabi
Laem Thong Beach is a peaceful beach on Koh Phi Don, with sweeping ocean waters ideal for snorkeling, dives and kayaking. It's only available via the boats, so it's a great escape for you from the busy streets.
07. Freedom Beach, Phuket
Spend one or two nights relaxing on Freedom Beach. You can take longtail boats from Patong to the beach front as the beaches are difficult to reach by land. You must have some entrance fees to visit the place but the views are worth the price.
It has an accessible path on the beach for hiking. Freedom beach resembles the picturesque and unspoiled beaches that can be seen during the tropical Thailand vacation. The ideal period for visiting is from December to February.
08. Long Beach – Koh Lanta
We spent much of our holiday relaxing by Koh Llanta beaches. Long beach is simply long beach in Koh Llanta. The 4-kilometer (22.4 km) trail was perfect to take the day out. Long Beach is connected with Klong Dao Beach, another beautiful Thai beach with plenty of backpackers hang outs where you enjoy drinking Singha beers and enjoying nightlife.
Where are you staying at Long Beach Layana Resort and Spa – SHA Extra Plus properties have a sea view, outdoor infinity pool and access to Long Beach.
09. Karon Beach – Phuket
Karon Beach at Phuket is a massive 5km long white beach located in Phuket. It'll be a wonderful beach and it has actually become the second most busy beach after Patong. It is located near Kata Beach. It is a quieter place for both. It is a popular windsurfer attraction and it's famous for turtle hatchlings too. The beaches can be explored easily and conveniently too.
10. Kata Noi Beach – Phuket
Quite further south is Kata Noi beach. Little Kata Beach is also an amazing day trip to Phuket, too! There are many luxurious hotel rooms at Kata Noi, such as Shores at Kata Noi, an all adult luxurious resort.
11. Sairee Beach, Ko Tao
One of the best views of a stunning sunset in Thailand is from Sairee beach. This is an interesting place in the area which has plenty of restaurants and water sports such as diving and snorkeling. The long, narrow beach is good for walks, and has unobstructed views over sunrise and sunset, which makes for an ideal beach for photographers.
It also serves as a main location for accommodation throughout the whole island. There are rooms at the Tarna Align Resort that provide an exceptional sunset view. The beaches in Sairee are great for visiting from February until August. Visits are free.
12. Sunset Beach – Koh Lipe
Koh Lipe is among the beaches of Thailand that we love. Its Southernmost islands are less touristy compared to Krabi. Lipe is a fantastic location for relaxation with some beach for a day's rest and relaxation.
Sunset Beach is located opposite Sunrise Beach from the shore and is away from the bustling Pattaya beach. As its name says, it offers the best sunset view from the quieter part of the island.

14. Haad Rin, Koh Phangan
Haad Rin Beach is among the most popular beaches on the tiny island of Phuket. It is an easy and beautiful beach day with long white sands and blue sea waters covered in coconuts. The beaches are typically a lively environment with spontaneous volleyball matches, swimmers and vacationers pursuing recreational water sports including Jet Ski and kayaking.
Nearby accommodation ranges from private villas at Anantara Rasananda Koh Phangan Villas to full-service resorts like the Santhiya Koh Phangan Resort & Spa and even hostels on the beach for those who are on holiday.
15. Kantiang Beach – Koh Lanta
Kantiang beach has kilometers of white sand on the south side of the Koh Lanta. A short walk from bustling traffic, this cosy restaurant offers a relaxing spot for chilling with a Chang beer or for a traditional Thai massage under the palm trees. There are yoga classes available which offer 2 kilometers of silky beach making this incredibly pleasant spot for walking the day.
16. Chaweng Noi Beach, Koh Samui
The popular Beach Chaweng in the Koh Samui Islands is quite crowded, so its smaller version along the coast of Chaweng Noi is an ideal choice. The shallow sea waters, calm waves and quiet beaches provide a perfect spot to relax from traffic.
Take some time at a small beach restaurant with a table in the sand or relax in a sea view massage at a local spa hotel. Luxury resorts such as the Sandalwood luxury villa and the BoPhut Resort & Spa close to the beach give you the feeling to live on your own private island. Plan a visit during December to April for the best sea conditions.
17. Ao Prao Beach, Koh Samet
It'll never take you much time to reach this beach at 200 meters. Sunsets on clear nights at Ao Prao beaches are believed to be one of the greatest experiences of your own lifetime. After sunset, you can hear chilling music in the nearby bars and watch the stars move around the darkened sky.
18. Maenam Beach, Koh Samui
Seven kilometers long beautiful golden sands are lined along this north Koh Samui coastline. Maengham is a small quiet village with relaxed hotels, beaches, bungalows, small businesses and restaurants. In addition it hosts Koh Samui Chinatown.
Maenam Beach has such a beautiful landscape. While other beaches around Koh Samui are also spectacular, some are overcrowded. Maenam portrayed an otherwise serene calmness. Besides being a beautiful beach, the area boasts views of Koh Phan in the distance over green-blue waters.
19. Bottle Beach, Koh Phangan
Like all of Thailand's most famous beaches, Bottle Beach can become crowded during tourist season. It's primitive and very natural. Often it's quiet but also quiet. The major majority of people come here to take a day trip and stay at night allows you to have almost nothing but your own beach in the morning.
You are welcome to stay at a bungalow on the beach at Bottle Beach 1 Resort. However, a large number of tourists stay on the eastern coast of the country in a hotel at Buri Rasa Ko Hphangan and Panviman Resort with a boat to the beach.
20. Sairee Beach – Koh Tao
The Sairee Beach is the most famous beach where everyone can go to work. Saire Beach has a coral reef close by. Koha Tao is famous for diving and there's plenty of dive centres on Sairee Beach. If you want to take action, you need to take action. In addition, it is good for snorkeling and the white sands make walking easy.
21. Hua Hin Beach
Hua Hin is located on a fourkm long beachfront offering plenty of fun for everyone, including banana boats, rides with the pony, windsurfing and a great parasailing school. Hua Hin beaches have a relaxing feeling. A few minutes away from Hua Hin Beach, back on Khai Takiap hill, is the small beach with the palm fringe.
22. Thongtakian Beach – Koh Samui
The boulders scattered around beaches provide great photographic choices. The lake is calm, with good visibility.
23. Sai Kaew Beach – Koh Samet
Hat Sai Kaew Beach is one of the largest beaches in Koh Samet. It is near the ferry at Koo Samet, which is a perfect base to see a lot if you stay here. The distance is 1.2 kilometers and is the widest.
